Ergosphere
A downloadable game for Windows
A third person action game focused on hack 'n slash and platforming with procedural elements.
Guide the character, named Horizon, through the ruins of an ancient culture while she gain experience with magic infusion to upgrade her spells and fight against enemies plotting to return as corrupted constellations.
Features:
- Cosmic themed spell effects for hack 'n slash and procedural ruins to platform and explore;
- Level up mechanic based on gaining experience per strike;
- Displacing mechanics to support combo chaining and platforming;
- Breakable and Collect mechanics to keep combo on screen while platforming and interacting with the ambient;
- Deflect and Dodge mechanics to prevent combo disruption;
- Pre-emptive mechanic warns about incoming attacks when fighting multiple enemies;
- Damage scale mechanic that increases while accruing combo hits to affect bigger enemies;
- Experience reward provided for clearing an area without taking hits;
- Consumable mechanic to put energy collected into status and spell upgrades;
- and more.
Helper:
-many objects can be infused with magic allowing Horizon to interact with them in different ways, hold "Infusions" button to help spot them;
-stone chests can be bucked open by infusing Horizon with magic when she gets in front of it, try approaching again if she misses;
-each cliff have both a "monoceros puzzle" and a panel to setup by bringing items (usually minerals) to give new equip spawns, new enemy spawns, resources and an extra part of the story. Cliffs are sequential each have a panel, panels are not random;
-bosses have many stars forming it's constellation, so the total health points of the star you are currently looking at, circled with a red target, will be shown in the HUD and you have to destroy each star to defeat the boss;
-the first boss will take a lot of damage if you deflect her shards;
-the second boss will probably be difficult if Horizon can't make comet cast beams (this is mentioned during game but some might not see it). You can get it by levelling up. you can also gain it with an extra effect from chests or dropped by enemies but this way is random;
-the third boss requires a "giant level damage scale" (50 hits or more) to bring about the stars allowing to be damaged, get there by entering spawn areas and "comboing"
-the fourth boss need you to look around for places to go
-centaurus enemies can dodge many spells, use area attacks or homing attacks like, meteor shards, star blast which are more effective but other attacks like ascension and even ram through with her horn should be fine;
-corvus enemies can be difficult to throw them out of a cliff since they fly but hitting a flyer with their respective damage scale or greater will make it fall;
-gemini enemies will blast when defeated causing area damage to other enemies;
-glider and crawler modular enemies brings a roulette with different action options than the fractures enemies one when dashing close to them
-use "Numeric HUD" option on pause menu to substitute the health and magic bar for more descriptive ones and "Auto QTE" for automatically pass quick time events. they were added as an attempt to help with accessibility
-try to find out the Speeding Star, Comet Upgrade, Supermassive, Star Cluster, Binary Star and all 7 equips!
(6 equips provided when completing temple panels and 1 elsewhere that will always stays with the character. The last two slots in the temple were not implemented for the main game since they seemed out of place and are kept within the "Extra" option in the main menu, when you open it, with another one (10th equip) with the crawlers and gliders so the character can take from them. )
I hope you have fun! ^^

there are some bugs in v39.8 like some stars being bigger than they should and more stars appearing than you need, but they seem to be mostly visual and didn't seemed to prevent the progress
I was trying a Linux version which was unstable during path generation and was also checking joystick support option before the Unity issue, I don't intend to continue updating this project any more, hence I've only provided the Windows version using keyboard and mouse (alternative buttons can be configured during the "splash" screen but it's a bit limited)
If you are on Linux you can play it using a virtual machine or wine or Lutris or use a flatpak application called "Bottles" and play it there sandboxed. if using Bottles you might need to install Flatseal to allow Bottles to be able to "see" the game file by selecting bottles and setting the path to the game file under the "file system" section "other files" and under "persistent" section "files" for the save game to be persistent. To setup Bottles to play the game go to the bottles application, click the "+" symbol on the top left corner to create a bottle where you can add windows applications, give it a name and select the type "Application" (the "Gaming" type didn't worked for me when I tested), then click this new bottle you created and click on "Add Shortcut" button under the "Programs" section which should be on top, now show bottles the path to the "Ergosphere.exe" file, click on "Add" and you should be good to go, to play it you can press the "run" symbol button on the Ergosphere application.
Downloading new versions won't reset progress.
*Except for the free audio and cliff textures, all other assets in this hobby project were made by me.

[Update 12 Out 2023] v38.9
"Enable Difficulty: Constellation" added
Enabling it in pause menu > options during gameplay will increase difficulty in case you find it too easy. Lasts until next scene when you disable
Enemies inside barriers are spawned progressively until you either beat them all or reached the spawn limit, which helps with both the pace if the player wants to finish quickly and XP gain otherwise
Some new mechanics, enemies and equips around to be gained through minerals
Some fixes like Beam attacks and Asterism are now causing damage more consistently to bosses than previous versions and other things
[Update 20 Jun 2023]
Speeding Star spell and Comet Upgrade added, other fixes.

I'm struggling too much on the tutorial. There's no checkpoints and some parts look like they require wall-running, not just wall-jumps. Also, it's harder to use on the gamecube controller (as the only functional button is X).
Hi,
do you mean the part of the tutorial with those side jumps?
if so, you should be able to either make a walljump or run/dash and jump through.
In the splash screen before the game starts it's possible to change the input buttons, but it probably won't work well on controller since the camera is based on mouse movement which works differently than the analogic on controllers so it might make the camera keep spinning or tilting for example.
There were some things I haven't done with the project and when unity starting their new terms and policy I didn't felt llike continuing with unity, things like making it work properly with controller instead of keyboard and mouse and have a linux version to name a few.
Maybe I could make a godot version though.
Maan, you can return downloads back, unity already abandoned their "smart" idea.
Thanks!
new version available
Downloads are back ^^
Which one is the new version?
The newest version is Ergosphere v39.8
there are some bugs on v39.8, like the one mention on description, that is not present on v38.1
but the v39.8 have some extras not present on v38.1
Wow! Nice visuals, smooth movement, glorious and goofy combat and a nice learning curve. This game doesn’t miss :)
Thanks for the comment!
